Our platform for the graduate student union is better pay, if possible, tenure protections for free speech and firing due process for all faculty and PhD students (no email firings), discipline rules for graduate students, including arrests, and grievance procedure with a line to the president or chancellor, required references, computer diary civil rights, and protections for international students on visas. Education is a civil right, and tenure firing rights should be a civil right for all teachers, grade school and college, not something that is awarded because you published a paper. Firing a PhD student should be harder than firing a professor, because the PhD student is enrolled in a degree program, even if he gets arrested, he still has the civil right to an education. The fired professor can just get a new job in a free market, allegedly.

And, life insurance, mortality, is very serious, and so is health insurance, morbidity, though life insurance is a valued contract with a predetermined amount with no way to assess loss, at 15, or 18, while health insurance is a contract of reimbursement for services rendered, often times with a beneficiary different from the Insured or even the policyowner or policyholder, although they can be the same person too, assuming an insurable interest

 Insurable Interest, requires the policyowner to benefit from the insured's continued existence or the insured's enjoyment of good health; or to suffer a loss when the insured dies or is disabled

1) A hallmark of capitalism is honoring work contracts and offering unemployment counseling. We signed at least a 1 year contract, if not 4 year contract, and that needs to be honored. Especially when you move to a new city and incur moving expenses, contracts need to be honored, no matter the reason for termination.

2) And yes, I was still drinking and driving and smoking crack, euphemism for parting at the clubs, I was a weekend warrior, not uncommon for young people or retirees. However, using drugs is not conducive to your career, so maybe prison saved me.

3) I am grateful to the U.S. government for providing social security mental disability benefits which allowed me to go back to school and start a second career in engineering, a more in demand career than business. 

 I remember I bought the elephant in DC, I bought the dog in Chapel Hill, and I bought the basketball at Dick's. Some mementos from my travels, and the book from Cape Town. RFK Teddy Bear. South Africa is a Thesis Only country. I'm not interested in moving to South Africa, I would rather move to Russia or Israel, but South Africa does speak English. Everywhere to travel is dangerous if you party too much.  And yeah, Russia is communist, 0 tolerance for drugs, and South Africa and Israel are settler colonies. If you want to party, go to England or Australia I guess.
